Responsibilities
- Conduct expert genealogical research primarily in the United States, focusing on the 18th through 20th centuries, with a specialization in lineage societies.
- Quickly assess resource accessibility, locate sources, and communicate promptly when research is not feasible.
- Produce well-written research logs, reports, and regular client updates that align with company standards.
- Maintain an average of 6 billable hours per day and fulfill annual billable hour targets.
- Provide and receive constructive feedback effectively.
- Collaborate closely with Research Managers to ensure project success, set clear expectations with clients, update clients every 4-6 weeks, and address concerns or questions promptly.
Requirements
- A minimum of 5 years’ professional genealogical research experience.
- A bachelor’s or master’s degree in History, Family History, English, or a comparable field.
- Specialized expertise in U.S. genealogical research, with a focus on lineage societies, and experience with application processes.
- Proficiency in applying DNA test results to genealogical research problems.
- Advanced knowledge of brick wall research methodologies and evidence analysis.
- Experience managing multiple projects simultaneously.
- Experience in creating research logs/journals, citations, abstracts, including analysis, writing narrative reports, drafting research plans, and conducting research within budget.
- Experience in client communication, expectation setting, and conflict resolution.
- Comfortable working collaboratively and providing feedback and coaching to team members.
Qualifications

Ancestry is also committed to pay transparency and pay equity, offering a base salary range of $51,410 - $64,260 with eligibility for bonus, equity, and other benefits.
