The Equity Capital Markets (ECM) Group within the Investment Banking Division in New York is seeking a highly skilled Vice President to join our team. This role offers an exceptional opportunity to work with one of the leading ECM Groups within a high-profile investment bank.
About the Division
The Investment Banking Division works on some of the most complex financial challenges and transactions in the market today, including mergers, acquisitions, financial solutions, and initial public offerings. We serve corporations, pension funds, financial sponsors, and governments, delivering out-of-the-box ideas and tailored solutions.
The Equity Capital Markets Group partners with public and private companies, venture capital firms, entrepreneurs, and financial sponsors to originate, structure, and execute equity financings such as initial public offerings, follow-on offerings, block trades, convertibles, and derivatives. The group is organized by product (common equity and structured equity) and segmented by industry group, collaborating closely with equity sales and trading teams.
Responsibilities
- Originate and lead equity capital market transactions for financial sponsor, venture capital, and corporate clients.
- Develop strategic content for client meetings regarding potential M&A or capital market transactions.
- Liaise with internal teams (e.g., junior and senior members across product groups) and external parties (e.g., client management, investors, lawyers) to execute transactions and discuss strategic alternatives.
- Complete and review analytical work of junior team members, providing mentorship and oversight.
- Perform investor targeting of potential institutional buyers, analyzing comparable companies and institutional cross ownership.
- Play a vital role throughout the entire transaction process, including project management for mission-critical equity financings.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree and 6+ years of relevant work experience within ECM, Capital Markets, or related fields.
- Experience covering Industrials clients preferred but not essential.
- 2+ years of experience leading deal teams of analysts and associates.
- Exceptional verbal and written communication skills.
- Strong work ethic, motivation, and attention to detail.
- Personal integrity, initiative, and leadership qualities.
- Capacity to interact and build relationships with a wide range of stakeholders.
- Well-rounded academic background from a top-tier institution.
- Understanding of transaction cycles and process steps.
- Demonstrated maturity to work with all levels of professionals across the firm and external clients.
- Ability to make quick and complex decisions with good judgment.
Pay
The expected base salary for this New York-based position is $250,000–$300,000. You may also be eligible for a discretionary bonus if you are an active employee as of fiscal year-end.
