About the role
Under general supervision, you will perform maintenance and repair on company vehicles and equipment to ensure safe, efficient operation with minimal downtime.
Responsibilities
- Perform routine scheduled vehicle/equipment maintenance and inspections.
- Conduct hydraulic, electronic, or mechanical repairs or adjustments.
- Interpret symptoms, evaluate, analyze, and test systems to diagnose issues.
- Maintain and overhaul vehicles/equipment to manufacturers’ specifications.
- Set up new vehicles/equipment, including fabrication and company markings.
- Document repairs, inspections, and other tasks on repair orders and forms.
- Make service calls for adjustments, inspections, and repairs in the field.
- Perform welding, gas torch work, and simple machining as required.
- Report to work fit for duty and free from the effects of drugs and alcohol.
Requirements
- High school diploma or equivalent (required).
- Four years of experience as a vehicle/equipment mechanic.
- Valid driver’s license; must obtain a Commercial Driver’s License (CDL) within the trial period.
- Willingness to travel, including occasional overnight stays.
- Subject to DOT drug and alcohol testing under 49 CFR Part 40 and FMCSA regulations (Part 382).
Skills
- Mechanical and troubleshooting ability.
- Proficiency with computer diagnostic equipment and testing tools.
- Ability to read, interpret, and work from manufacturers’ technical manuals.
- Knowledge of electrical arc and gas welding.
- Experience with simple machining and fabrication of parts.
- Familiarity with hand tools used in the mechanics trade.
- Ability to work a variable or alternating shift schedule.
Schedule
Four-day, 10-hour second-shift schedule, with flexibility for occasional overtime.
Pay
Pay range: $46.48 per hour.
