About the Role

The Maintenance Mechanic is responsible for troubleshooting and repairing mechanical equipment throughout the site, ensuring minimal disruption to the production process. This role operates on a 7-day-a-week schedule and may require work across multiple plant areas or assignments per shift. Call-ins are a requirement, and the position demands high self-management, punctuality, good attendance, and adaptability to varied tasks.

Responsibilities

  • Repair, replace, and install equipment including pumps, screw conveyors, rotary valves, relief valves, motors, conveyors, and auxiliaries such as pipes, flanges, gaskets, mechanical seals, and filters.
  • Align, disassemble, and rebuild production equipment such as reciprocating compressors, steam turbines, bearing members, gearboxes, and pumps.
  • Utilize precision tools like micrometers and calipers for equipment repair; operate drill presses, hydraulic presses, pedestal grinders, mill equipment, and lathes.
  • Work independently or in small groups to install, repair, and replace equipment, including pumps, valves, motors, and other process equipment.
  • Use a variety of handheld tools (manual, electrical, or pneumatic) requiring grip strength up to 100 pounds of torque for disassembly.
  • Stand or walk for approximately 5-6 hours daily on surfaces like concrete, asphalt, metal grates, and diamond steel plates; climb up to 5 flights of stairs 3-4 times daily.
  • Kneel, crouch, or crawl to access restricted work areas 1-2 times daily.
  • Work in varying environmental conditions, including outdoor temperatures ranging from -32°F to over 100°F and indoor temperatures exceeding 110°F.

Requirements

  • High School diploma or equivalent with a minimum of 2 years of experience as a mechanic in industry and/or technical education in industrial maintenance.
  • Minimum 2 years of maintenance experience in a manufacturing or industrial environment.
  • Ability to read, write, and perform basic mathematics.
  • Experience in troubleshooting and repairing mechanical equipment.
  • Knowledge of valve types and pump repair/alignment.
  • Proficiency with precision measuring instruments (e.g., micrometers, calipers) and operation of drill presses, hydraulic presses, pedestal grinders, mill equipment, and lathes.
  • Ability to read and work from blueprints or single-line drawings.
