FY27: Community School Liaison,12 mo, Stedwick Elementary School 1.0 FTE

Summary Description

Community schools provide a variety of wraparound services tailored to meet the needs of students, families, and communities. The Community School Liaison will plan and provide comprehensive support for the designated Community School under the direction of the Supervisor of Community Schools, collaborating with the elementary school principal and school staff.

Responsibilities

• Develop a comprehensive needs assessment and strategic plan for the school focusing on wrap-around services for students, including extended learning opportunities, school-based health and wellness services, family engagement, and student attendance support.
• Work with the school's leadership team, school staff, community agencies, parents, and other stakeholders to implement the strategic plan.
• Collaborate with MCPS and MCEA to ensure alignment with the Community Schools initiative and related programs and activities.
• Serve as an advocate, role model, and supporter of diversity, ensuring equitable access to resources and opportunities for all students.
• Evaluate performance with school principals and the central office Supervisor of Community Schools.

Requirements

• Considerable knowledge of child development and learning.
• Working knowledge of Community Schools and its components.
• Demonstrated ability to work with diverse communities.
• Experience in developing and facilitating professional development in areas relevant to Community Schools.
• Three years or more experience in community outreach and organizing preferred.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university.
• Coursework in education, communication, and counseling.
• Documented experience with program development and implementation.

Skills

• Knowledge about a variety of instructional and behavioral management strategies appropriate to the needs of students in community schools.
• Ability to self-reflect on instructional practices and personal interactions for continuous improvement.
• Excellent oral and written communication and human relations skills.
