FY27: Community School Liaison, 12 mo, A. Mario Loiederman MS, 1.0 FTE

About the Role

The Community School Liaison will plan and provide comprehensive support for a designated Community School, working as part of the school's leadership and support teams. This role involves collaborating with school leadership, staff, community agencies, parents, and stakeholders to develop a needs assessment and strategic plan for wraparound services, including:

• Extended learning opportunities for students outside of school hours
• Expansion of school-based health and wellness services
• Family engagement and support services
• Programs to improve student attendance
• Training for staff and community partners to align with the community school’s mission and vision

This position is a collaborative partnership between MCPS and MCEA and requires serving as an advocate, role model, and supporter of diversity in all its forms.

Responsibilities

• Develop and implement a comprehensive needs assessment and strategic plan for the Community School
• Collaborate with school leadership, staff, families, and community stakeholders to expand wraparound services
• Coordinate extended learning, health/wellness, and family engagement initiatives
• Support programs to improve student attendance
• Facilitate training for school staff and community partners
• Attend school meetings, events, and programs outside the instructional day as required
• Engage in crisis intervention, which may include physical restraints

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university (coursework in education, communication, or counseling preferred)
• Meets Maryland State Certification requirements in a relevant specialist area (e.g., social work, school counseling, pupil personnel work, therapy, speech-language pathology, or teaching)
• Documented experience with program development and implementation
• Experience developing and facilitating professional development
• Three or more years in community outreach and organizing (preferred)

• Working knowledge of Community Schools and their components
• Commitment to high expectations and the belief that all students can learn
• Ability to work with diverse communities and engage families and organizations
• Knowledge of instructional and behavioral management strategies for community schools
• Strong self-reflection and continuous improvement skills
• Ability to collaborate effectively with administrators, colleagues, staff, students, parents, and community organizations
• Excellent oral, written, and interpersonal communication skills

Physical Demands

• Ability to move around the building, including stooping, bending, and standing for extended periods
• Capability to move heavy objects
• Participation in crisis intervention, including physical restraints when necessary

Special Requirements

This is a grant-supported position through the Blueprint for Maryland's Future. The role requires planning and attending school meetings, events, and programs outside the instructional day as mandated by the MCEA contract.

Pay

Salary range: $78,361 – $159,500, based on education and experience.
