FY27: Community School Liaison, Carl Sandburg Learning Center, 1.0FTE

Summary Description

Community schools provide a variety of wraparound services tailored to meet the needs of students, families, and communities. The Community School Liaison works under the direction of the Supervisor of Community Schools, collaborating with the elementary school principal to plan and provide comprehensive support for the designated Community School. This position involves working with the school's leadership team, school staff, community agencies, parents, and other stakeholders to develop a comprehensive needs assessment and strategic plan for wrap-around services.

Responsibilities

• Develop and implement comprehensive needs assessments and strategic plans for wrap-around services.
• Collaborate with school leadership and staff to expand school-based health and wellness services, family engagement, and attendance improvement programs.
• Engage with community agencies and organizations to support the Community Schools initiative.
• Work with school staff and community partners to train and support their efforts in meeting the Community Schools mission and vision.
• Attend school meetings and events related to Community School initiatives and programs outside the instructional day.

Requirements

• Considerable knowledge of child development and learning.
• Working knowledge of Community Schools and its components.
• Demonstrated ability to work with diverse communities.
• Experience in developing and facilitating professional development in areas relevant to Community Schools.
• Three years or more experience in community outreach and organizing preferred.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university.
• Coursework in education, communication, and counseling.
• Documented experience with program development and implementation.

• Ability to engage with families and community organizations.
• Knowledge of various instructional and behavioral management strategies.
• Excellent oral and written communication and human relations skills.
