About the Role

Kaplan Early Learning Company is seeking a Furniture Assembler for peak season to join the Furniture Assembly Team. This interim position ensures customer satisfaction through the quality assembly of wood furniture.

Job Hours: 6:00 AM – 3:30 PM, Monday – Friday.

Responsibilities

• Break down pallets of unassembled units and place on assembly table.
• Assemble "ready-to-assemble" case goods using hand tools (hammers, pliers, etc.) and pneumatic power drills quickly and efficiently in a production environment.
• Visually inspect assembly components and completed units to ensure quality assembly.
• Move assembled units from table to manual conveyor line.
• Maintain cleanliness of work area by disposing of empty boxes, plastic wrapping, and building materials to ensure safety.
• Assist in building boxes using a table saw to cut corrugated corner posts and a pneumatic stapler as needed.
• Pack finished furniture units by moving units from the end of the assembly line, placing them in boxes with packing materials, sealing boxes with a pneumatic stapler, labeling, and moving to pallets.
• Occasionally assist in unloading incoming furniture components from trailers by hand or with a pallet jack and move to the appropriate warehouse location.
• Identify and separate damaged materials through visual inspection, placing them in a specified location.
• Perform other duties as necessary.

Requirements

• High school graduate or equivalent required.
• Some experience with case good assembly and proficiency with various hand tools required.
• Ability to learn how to assemble 125–150 different units without written instructions, using only a visual of the completed unit and/or demonstration, correctly and quickly.
• Must be safety and quality conscious with the ability to work effectively in a team environment and meet weekly production goals.
• Demonstrated ability to frequently maneuver and lift up to 75 lbs. independently and occasionally lift up to 150 lbs. as part of a two-person team. Majority of assembled units weigh between 40 lbs. and 90 lbs.
