Furnace Operator - 3rd Shift

About the role

Based in Wichita, KS, this position performs essential job functions associated with heat treatment under the direction of the General Manager to meet customer specifications, including assisting other employees as needed. This role may be filled at one of the following levels depending on skills and experience:

• Level C: Entry Level: 0 to 24 months of heat treating experience. You will be expected to learn and grow in your role, with guidance from senior team members.

This position is deemed safety-sensitive due to the nature of our business and a heavy industrial market. Candidates must pass a pre-employment drug screen and basic physical. This position must satisfy ITAR compliance requirements; candidates must be U.S. Citizens or Permanent Resident Card Holders.

Responsibilities

• Prepares work for processing; loads and unloads furnaces, bins, fixtures, baskets, etc.
• Brings any unusual problems or irregularities to the attention of the supervisor.
• Practices and promotes safety and good housekeeping.
• Performs other tasks as assigned or dictated by position.
• Responsible for the care and treatment of customers’ inventory, performing duties in a safe and responsible manner to prevent customer loss or damage.
• Assists with operations, control, and monitoring of heat treating and related equipment as required and as written in procedures on shop traveler and/or customer paperwork.

Must have the ability to report for work on time, follow directions, interact effectively with co-workers, understand and follow rules and procedures, and accept constructive criticism.

Requirements

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Manufacturing background.
• 2-3 years of Machine Operator experience (CNC, heavy machinery, etc).
• Stable work history.
• HMI Control knowledge preferred.
• Must be able to obtain and maintain forklift operation certification.
• Must demonstrate the ability to read, write, and communicate in English.
• Must be able to work overtime or any shift, including weekends.
• Must be able to work 3rd shift: 11:00pm - 7:30am, Monday-Friday.

Physical & Mental Demands

• Must be able to work in a standing position for extended periods of time in an industrial environment.
• Ability to bend, pull, stoop, and reach to perform functions.
• Ability to lift up to 35 lbs.
• May be exposed to heat, fumes, noise, and humidity.
• Must have the cognitive and mental capacity to perform essential job functions.
• Must be able to communicate effectively orally and in writing.
• Visual acuity to read documents, computer screens, files, etc.
• Ability to hear in person and via phone.
