Funeral Director

Job Responsibilities

• Arranges conference with deceased next of kin
• Conducts removals or transfers
• Greets next of kin and escorts to meeting space
• Facilitates Arrangements Conference
• Counsels or advises on funeral services
• Directs services at visitation, funeral, or graveside services
• Planners events and produces MeM products
• Prepares event rooms and cleans up after events
• Performs attendant duties as needed
• Works under general guidance

Requirements

• Graduated from an accredited school or college of mortuary science
• Current Funeral Director license within the practicing state
• Valid state driver’s license with an acceptable driving record
• Industry experience is preferred

• Cognitive ability to reason, plan, identify problems, learn quickly, and apply learning to new situations
• Process and results-oriented, motivated to keep projects moving ahead
• Positive attitude, drive to advance industry knowledge, and high self-motivation
• Professional written and verbal communication skills
• Public speaking skills to influence and gain consensus
• Proficient in databases and MS Office

Skills

• Manual dexterity for paperwork, calculators, computers, and phones
• Pushing and pulling up to 150 pounds on flat and inclined flooring or ramps
