About the role

The Oxford Hills School District is seeking an enthusiastic and experienced Special Education Functional Life Skills Teacher to join the team at The Guy E. Rowe Elementary School in Norway, ME. This position is available for the 2025-2026 school year.

Responsibilities

  • Teach functional academics, ADLs, communication, and participation in inclusive classes to students with disabilities such as ID, Autism, and OHI.
  • Work collaboratively with a team to support students' individual needs.
  • Report to the Building Principal/Director of Student Services.

Requirements

  • A valid Maine certification 282 or the ability to obtain one with appropriate endorsement(s).

Qualifications

  • Experience working with students with disabilities.
  • Ability to teach functional academics and ADLs.
  • Strong interpersonal and collaborative skills.

Skills

  • Excellent communication skills.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Knowledge of adaptive technologies and strategies.

  • It shares vocational resources and accepts students from the RSU10 School District towns of Buckfield, Hartford, and Sumner.
  • Oxford Hills/Nezinscot Adult Education is located within the Oxford Hills Comprehensive High School.
  • The area offers a variety of outdoor resources for recreation, including more than ten lakes and ponds, skiing, and proximity to downhill skiing areas.
