Functional Life Skills Teacher Grades 4-6 Paris

About the role

The Oxford Hills School District is seeking an experienced Functional Life Skills Teacher to join the dynamic team at Paris Elementary School. The successful candidate will work collaboratively with colleagues to support students in grades 4-6 who have various disabilities such as Intellectual Disability, Autism Spectrum Disorder, and Other Health Impairments. The focus will be on functional academics, daily living skills, communication, and inclusion in regular education settings.

Responsibilities

• Collaborate with colleagues to create and implement educational plans tailored to individual student needs.
• Support students in developing independence and social skills through structured activities and routines.
• Work closely with special education teachers, general education teachers, and related services providers to ensure continuity of support.
• Assist in the development and implementation of Individualized Education Programs (IEPs).
• Participate in professional development opportunities to enhance teaching strategies and stay updated on best practices.

Requirements

• A valid Maine certification 282 or the ability to obtain one with appropriate endorsements.
• Experience working with students with intellectual and developmental disabilities.
• Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Special Education or related field.
• Master's degree in Special Education preferred.
• Valid Maine certification in Special Education.
• Experience in a self-contained life skills classroom setting.

• Ability to work effectively with a diverse student population.
• Knowledge of adaptive teaching methods and strategies.
• Proficiency in using assistive technology.

$45,000.00 - $79,539.70* (SY25/26)
