Special Education Teacher/Functional Life Skills

The Margaret Chase Smith Community School is seeking a Regular Education Teacher to support learning for special education students in Grades K-5.

About the role

• Support students with diverse needs in a collaborative classroom setting
• Implement differentiated instruction to meet individual student needs
• Collaborate with special education teachers and other school staff to develop and implement Individualized Education Programs (IEPs)

Responsibilities

• Teach core academic subjects aligned with Maine Learning Results
• Develop and maintain positive relationships with students, families, and colleagues
• Participate in professional development opportunities to enhance teaching skills
• Assess student progress and adjust instruction as needed

Requirements

• Current Maine certification in Regular Education
• Experience working with students with special educational needs
• Strong interpersonal and communication skills
• Ability to work collaboratively in a team environment

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Education or related field
• Passport to Teaching certification preferred
