About the role
Vassar Brothers Medical Center, located in Poughkeepsie, New York, is seeking a Nurse Practitioner or Physician Assistant to work in their growing Medical Oncology team. This position will coordinate, oversee, and provide advanced nursing care to medical oncology patients.
Responsibilities
- Works collaboratively with physicians and nurses and is responsible for providing comprehensive care to patients.
- Conducts comprehensive and episodic health history and physical assessments of patients.
- Oversees treatment infusions and supportive care needs.
- Writes orders within the limits of the practice agreement.
- Maintains clinical documentation according to group practice guidelines.
- Participates in clinical quality and research initiatives as needed.
- Educates patients, families, and caregivers on treatment plans.
- Participates in learning opportunities.
Requirements
- Current license to practice as a Nurse Practitioner or Physician Assistant in the state of New York.
- Experience in oncology preferred but not required.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
Qualifications
- Master's degree in Nursing or related healthcare field.
- Current certification as a Nurse Practitioner or Physician Assistant.
- At least two years of relevant clinical experience.
