About the role

The Marriott Colorado Springs is seeking a Lead Cook to join our culinary team. This role involves leading the kitchen floor, overseeing food production and quality control, and supporting various departments like room service, banquets, and the employee cafeteria.

Responsibilities

  • Maintain, set up, and execute food production and quality control across multiple stations.
  • Ensure timely and efficient service to guests.
  • Supervise and assist kitchen team members during service.
  • Support banquets and special events, adhering to specifications and timelines.
  • Train kitchen staff in equipment operation and maintenance.
  • Implement culinary training programs to ensure consistent food preparation.
  • Evaluate situations quickly, make decisions under pressure, and maintain composure.
  • Communicate clearly and effectively with team members and leadership.
  • Follow hotel policies and maintain cleanliness and orderliness in the kitchen.

Requirements

  • At least 5 years of progressive culinary experience in a hotel or related field, or culinary school graduate with 2 years of relevant experience.
  • Previous supervisory or lead experience in a kitchen environment.
  • Food Handler Certification.
  • Strong working knowledge of food safety, sanitation practices, and health department regulations.
  • Ability to convey information clearly and make quick decisions in a fast-paced kitchen environment.
  • Physical stamina and comfort with an active, demanding work environment.

  • Thorough working knowledge of menus, preparation techniques, and culinary standards across multiple stations.
  • Natural leadership and ability to hold standards without losing composure.
  • Initiative and ability to anticipate and solve issues without losing composure.
  • Strong communication skills and ability to work with financial information and basic arithmetic.
  • A friendly, warm, and professional demeanor with guests and associates.
  • Reliable attendance and availability for varying shifts including evenings, weekends, and holidays.

You should be able to lead by example, anticipate needs, and solve issues calmly and effectively. Physical Requirements

This role requires standing and moving for the full duration of a shift in a high-heat, fast-paced kitchen environment. You should be comfortable lifting and carrying items up to 50 lbs., bending, reaching, and working at a sustained pace throughout service.
