Full Time- Lead Cook
About the role
The job of Lead Cook is to provide support to the food service activities at assigned locations. Key responsibilities include cooking food items that meet mandated nutritional requirements and/or requests of the Cafeteria Manager, verifying quantities and specifications of orders, maintaining facilities in a sanitary condition, and assisting other food service personnel.
Responsibilities
- Attends meetings (e.g. unit meetings, in-service training, workshops, etc.)
- Cleans kitchen (e.g. ovens, surfaces, pots, pans, staff restroom, etc.)
- Cooks breakfast and lunch foods (e.g. prepared, from scratch following recipes, etc.)
- Estimates food preparation amounts (e.g. follows production records, adjusts recipes, etc.)
- Evaluates prepared food (e.g. flavor, appearance, temperature, etc.)
- Inspects food items (e.g. temperature, quality, quantity, etc.)
- Inventories food, condiments and supplies (e.g. ensuring availability of items required for meeting projected menu requirements)
- Operates point of sale system (e.g. scan ID, collect cash/payment tickets, etc.)
- Oversees the preparation, cooking and serving of food and beverage items (e.g. mentoring new employees, helping when someone falls behind, etc.)
- Prepares documentation (e.g. production records, temperature logs, etc.)
- Records payments for food items from students (e.g. cash, ID scan, payment tickets, etc.)
- Reports equipment malfunctions
- Serves required items of food (e.g. meeting mandated nutritional requirements and/or requests of students and school personnel)
- Stocks food, condiments and supplies (e.g. maintaining adequate quantities and security of items)
Requirements
Bilingual preferred. This job is distinguished from similar jobs by the following characteristics: Full Time cooks lead the food preparation and delivery process, with Part Time cooks' support. Full Time cooks have responsibility for final results.
Qualifications
Job-related experience with increasing levels of responsibility is desired. Education: High school diploma or equivalent.
