About the Role

Instructors receive ongoing training and support to build teaching, presentation, and mentoring skills. The position offers flexible work schedules and a full-time workload, typically teaching 4.5-5.5 work units each quarter.

Responsibilities

  • Teach courses in various modalities while promoting and supporting the vision and mission of Rasmussen University.
  • Use effective teaching strategies and multiple techniques to create an engaging, student-centered learning environment.
  • Foster high levels of student engagement through activities, community building, and synchronous learning sessions.
  • Ensure clarity, relevance, and connection of class objectives to course performance.
  • Maintain an organized classroom and efficient use of class time.
  • Demonstrate mastery of subject matter and effectively articulate concepts to students.
  • Play an integral role in curriculum development and assessment for your area of expertise.
  • Support student success through availability for synchronous or asynchronous communication and meetings.
  • Attend events, programmatic meetings, and committee work as designated by the Dean.

Requirements

  • Master’s Degree in Nursing (required).
  • Active Illinois RN license that has never been encumbered.
  • At least 2 years of experience in Medical-Surgical/Telemetry/ICU.
  • 1 year of clinical experience as an RN (required); 2+ years preferred.
  • American Heart Association BLS for Healthcare Providers certification.
  • Active CPR certification (American Heart Association or American Red Cross).
  • Previous teaching or training experience (preferred).
  • Self-motivated, flexible, and able to work in a team environment with minimal supervision.
  • Excellent interpersonal communication, presentation, and leadership abilities.
  • Proof of professional licenses/certifications, official transcripts, and applicable faculty immunization documentation required.
