Full-Time Faculty, Department Chair/Associate Degree Surgical Technology Program

Location: Danvers, MA • Full-time faculty position within the Division of Health Professions (MCCC/MTA Unit).

About the role

Provide overall administration, organization, and supervision of the Associate Degree Surgical Technology Program, including academic leadership, curriculum oversight, budget management, and continuous program assessment and improvement.

Responsibilities

• Lead continuous program assessment, quality review, and improvement initiatives.
• Provide academic leadership and oversight, including curriculum planning, development, implementation, and evaluation.
• Develop and manage the departmental budget, prioritize expenditures, and maintain an inventory of program equipment and supplies.
• Deliver high-quality instruction that supports the diverse backgrounds, cultures, experiences, and learning styles of community college students.
• Facilitate the application of theory to clinical practice while promoting critical thinking and independent learning.
• Collaborate effectively with program faculty and staff as an active member of the academic team.
• Participate in college governance and required meetings, including departmental meetings, in accordance with the collective bargaining agreement.
• Maintain required professional credentials.
• Participate in continuing education, professional development activities, and an ARC/STSA-sponsored accreditation workshop at least once every five years.
• Demonstrate strong leadership, organizational, interpersonal, and communication skills, including the ability to manage challenging or sensitive situations professionally.
• Promote the College's mission, goals, and objectives and perform other duties as assigned in accordance with the collective bargaining agreement.
• Demonstrate a commitment to equity, inclusion, and student success by fostering an environment responsive to the diverse academic, socioeconomic, cultural, and ethnic backgrounds of community college students.

Requirements

• Minimum of an Associate Degree.
• Documented education or experience in instructional methodology, curriculum design, and program planning.
• Graduate of an education program in surgical technology accredited by a nationally recognized programmatic accreditation agency.
• Credential in the field of surgical technology through a national certification program accredited by the National Commission on Certifying Agencies (NCCA).
• Minimum total of five years of experience, either in the operating room scrub role or as an instructor in surgical technology, or a combination of both, within the past ten years.
• Must pass a CORI/SORI background check as a condition of employment.
• Pursue ongoing formal training to maintain and upgrade professional, instructional, and administrative capabilities.
• Participate in an ARC/STSA-sponsored accreditation workshop at least once every five years.

Preferred Qualifications

• Master's degree.
• LMS experience.
• ARC/STSA accreditation experience.

Pay

Anticipated starting salary is $57,289.00 - $60,000.00.
