Responsibilities

  • Perform hemodialysis treatment procedures safely and efficiently.
  • Assess patients thoroughly and document responses to renal failure.
  • Develop and implement care plans based on patient needs.
  • Communicate significant information to the appropriate team members.
  • Administer medications correctly and teach patients about their dosages and side effects.
  • Obtain laboratory specimens and perform routine tests.
  • Delegate responsibilities and ensure all delegated tasks are completed.
  • Assume primary nurse responsibilities in the absence of the Charge Nurse.
  • Participate in the unit's Quality Assurance Program and contribute to performance improvement projects.
  • Maintain a clean and organized work environment.
  • Ensure confidentiality of patient, employee, and company information.
  • Participate in self and/or peer evaluations.
  • Contribute to a positive and productive workplace culture.
  • Report errors and near-misses to prevent recurrence.
  • Respond to negative feedback and complaints from staff, patients, and families.
  • Follow evidence-based guidelines and proper infection control practices.
  • Assist in the orientation of new staff members.
  • Prepare daily dialysis logs and set-ups for each shift.
  • Stock and order necessary blood work supplies.
  • Help maintain a safe and clean environment.
  • Respond to emails and adhere to company policies and procedures.

Requirements

  • Graduation from an accredited nursing school or equivalent.
  • Current RN license for Tennessee and current CPR certification.
  • One year of Hemodialysis RN experience (two to three years preferred).
  • Strong technical/computer proficiency with laptops, tablets, and various software applications.
  • Ability to read, write, speak, understand, and communicate in English.
  • Understanding of basic renal function and its consequences.
  • Knowledge of common lab results and their implications.
  • Ability to prioritize tasks and make decisions based on current knowledge.
  • Understanding of legal consequences of nursing actions.
  • Ability to develop and implement care plans.
  • Experience in using the team approach to address patient needs.
  • Ability to delegate responsibilities and follow through on delegated tasks.
  • Understanding of infection control practices and the hazards associated with failing to follow these procedures.
  • Ability to participate in CPR as needed.
  • Ability to contribute to a positive and productive workplace culture.
  • Ability to identify and report concerns, issues, and opportunities for improvement.
  • Ability to assist in building and maintaining a facility/clinic culture of safety and quality.

Qualifications
