Full Time - Certified Medical Assistant/Patient Representative - Peekskill

About the role

The Certified Medical Assistant/Patient Representative supports medical care at the Center or authorized community sites, performing tasks under the direction of the nursing and medical staff. Sun River Health is a Federally Qualified, Non-Profit Health Center serving communities in multiple counties.

Responsibilities

• Takes vital signs, vision, and/or hearing tests, records patient data in eCW, performs in-house labs, collects specimens for outside labs, prepares exam rooms, and assists during examinations.
• Documents reasons for visits, ensures CVRs are completed, maintains clinical areas, cleans and sterilizes equipment, and logs these actions.
• Facilitates patient care across different departments and external agencies, verifies insurance, sets fees based on sliding scale, consults with medical staff, and provides health education.
• Handles phone inquiries, maintains logs, and assists with reception activities.

Requirements

• High School diploma/GED
• National Certified Medical Assistant (NCMA) certification

Qualifications

• Experience in a healthcare setting preferred
• Excellent interpersonal and communication skills
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team

Skills

• Basic computer skills
• Strong organizational and time management skills
• Knowledge of medical terminology and procedures
