About the role

A Medical Assistant helps patients and the clinical team at designated health center in support of medical care as directed by the nursing and medical staff and pursuant to the objectives and policies of the Center. This position performs job duties in compliance with systems and job specific standards and additional jobs or duties assigned.

Responsibilities

  • Completes the rooming process and takes vital signs, vision, and/or hearing tests, record patient data in eCW, (laboratory results, pain level, PEAS, PhQ, Smoke status, etc.) Document reason for visit.
  • Performs in-house labs, collect specimens for outside labs (ex. Pap, cultures, etc) perform quality control in accordance with organizational protocols.
  • Keeps clinical area stocked and in good order. Assures that all dated material is kept current and disposes of outdated supplies.
  • Performs basic clerical work in service area; answer phones in appropriate manner, communicate problems/concerns to nurse; handle telephone inquiries.
  • Ensures all appropriate logs are maintained.

Requirements

  • High School/GED diploma
  • Medical Assistant Certificate
  • Completion of a Medical Assistant training program

Qualifications

Highly organized, detail-oriented, and able to multitask. Must have strong communication skills and be able to interact effectively with patients, healthcare providers, and other staff members. Must be able to lift up to 50 pounds and stand for extended periods of time.

Skills

Proficiency in computer software, including electronic health records (EHR) systems. Ability to follow safety procedures and guidelines. Knowledge of medical terminology and anatomy.

$20.50-$22.00 per hour
