About the role
We are conducting a confidential search for an experienced Full-Charge Bookkeeper to join a stable and growing organization in Redlands. This is a hands-on, onsite accounting role supporting a construction-related business environment. The ideal candidate will bring strong full-cycle bookkeeping experience, a background working with general contractors, and the ability to manage accounting processes accurately and efficiently.
Responsibilities
- Handle full-cycle bookkeeping functions including accounts payable, accounts receivable, bank reconciliations, general ledger maintenance, journal entries, and month-end close.
- Manage construction billing, including progress billing, AIA billing, retainage, change orders, and lien waiver tracking.
- Maintain accurate financial records for multiple jobs and support project and budget reporting.
- Perform job costing and track project expenses, including labor, materials, and subcontractor-related costs.
- Prepare month-end reporting and assist with financial statement preparation, cash flow review, budgeting, and forecasting.
- Support subcontractor and vendor compliance documentation, including W-9s, certificates of insurance, and contracts.
- Ensure accuracy and timeliness across accounting operations in a fast-paced environment.
Qualifications
- 3+ years of full-charge bookkeeping experience, ideally in construction or another project-based industry.
- Prior accounting experience working for a general contractor rather than a subcontractor.
- Hands-on proficiency with QuickBooks and confidence using Excel for financial tracking and reporting.
- Working knowledge of accounts payable, accounts receivable, bank reconciliations, journal entries, and month-end close procedures.
- Familiarity with construction accounting practices, including job costing, progress billing, retainage, and change order processing.
- Understanding of general ledger maintenance, financial recordkeeping, and the preparation of standard financial reports.
- Ability to manage multiple priorities, meet deadlines, and maintain a high level of accuracy in a busy onsite environment.
- Must be based locally within a reasonable commuting distance of Redlands, California.
