FT - Accounting-Asst Professor/Program Coordinator
Job Summary
Reporting to the Department Head – Management & Accounting, the Assistant Professor, Business Administration: Accounting, is responsible for teaching a variety of introductory and upper-level undergraduate accounting courses, academic advising, and organizing co-curricular activities. Teaching flexibility is highly desired.
Essential Job Functions
Teaching all levels of undergraduate accounting (teaching load is up to 12 credit hours per semester; may have release time to conduct research or other duties)
Maintaining professional scholarship
Effectively advising students through matriculation, including sharing academic and student resource information when applicable
Maintaining scheduled office hours and ensuring posting of hours is available for students
Effectively managing the classroom environment
Developing, maintaining, and submitting accurate, timely and complete records (attendance, assignments, grades, end of course notebooks, etc.)
Conducting research (suitable for an academic or professional audience)
Participating in course and curriculum development, mentoring part-time faculty and students, as well as providing service to the School and the University
Serving the School, the University, and the profession and community as appropriate
Preferred Education and/or Experience
Teaching experience preferred
Experience with publishing and/or presenting research preferred
Required Education And/or Experience
Master’s degree in accounting or related field from an accredited institution of higher learning; Ph.D./DBA preferred
Excellent written and oral communication skills
Strong organizational skills
Demonstrated understanding and strong commitment to cultural diversity
Physical Demands
Ability to sit or stand for up to 8 hours/day
Some lifting (up to 25 pounds occasionally), bending, and carrying
