Position Purpose
The Quality Assurance (QA) Lead will provide guidance, coach, and train technicians to ensure maximum quality delivery while upholding quality control standards. Key duties include monitoring employees, organizing workflows, analyzing manufacturing processes, performing product testing, ensuring standards are maintained, and ensuring product integrity and safety.
Major Tasks, Responsibilities, And Key Accountabilities
- Assists the Quality Assurance Manager in developing and maintaining Standard Operating Procedures (SOP's) and Program instructions
- Works with Production Managers, Supervisors, and Leads to monitor and document food safety and quality of raw and finished products; reports deviations
- Supervises time and production records as required
- Ensures product is processed according to company HACCP/HARPC programs
- Informs Quality Assurance Management of food safety issues
- Implements and manages food safety corrective actions
- Prioritizes and performs responsibilities accurately and to deadlines
- Provides assistance to local and corporate management in changing the food safety system; maintains food safety system documents
- Maintains daily monitoring of QA personnel for compliance; performs or directs audits on GMP
- Safely keeps and reports analytical results; tracks and reports data trends
- Manages QA Techs' inspections of raw materials; investigates non-conformances and complaints; leads facility team in self-audits
- Hospoasts visitors to the facility with the Plant Manager, including regulatory agency representatives and customer representatives
- Knows and understands applicable FDA regulations and GMPs
- Ensures continuous improvement in capacity and quality service
Requirements
- Minimum 2 years QA leadership experience, preferably in food manufacturing
- Previous lead/supervisory experience in USDA/FDA food manufacturing/processing environments
- Quality Assurance Certifications in SQF, HACCP, and GMP
- Demonstrated leadership and planning abilities
- Ability to manage time effectively and prioritize tasks
- Flexibility with work schedule
- Detail-oriented and thorough
- Excellent interpersonal skills
- Strong computer skills including Word and Excel
Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent
- Industry experience
- Effective communication skills, especially regarding food safety and quality matters
- Ability to lift up to 45 lbs. occasionally and push/pull up to 250 lbs. on rollers occasionally
- Knowledge of allergenic food ingredients and their handling
Working Conditions
- Wet/cold environment around 35 degrees F
- Largely static role with repetitive bending and standing
- Occasional exposure to allergenic food ingredients for salaried/remote employees
