Provides guidance and leadership to production personnel regarding food safety measures and practices. Ensures all customer concerns and complaints are handled with professionalism and care. Applies available tools and resources for meeting food specifications and production goals.
Responsibilities
- Provide daily monitoring of the facility and personnel to ensure compliance with the food safety system; perform formal audits on GMPs.
- Train facility personnel on GMPs, risk preventive controls, hazard analysis, prerequisite programs, and other applicable food safety elements.
- Conduct pre-operational inspections.
- Collect and analyze product samples; document analytical results.
- Maintain records of all facility analytical results; report out-of-specification results immediately to the QA supervisor.
- Provide documented reports of analytical results to the QA supervisor; track and report data trends.
- Inspect incoming raw materials; assist in investigating non-conformance and product complaints.
- Lead the facility team in performing self-audits.
- Host visitors, including regulatory and customer representatives, and serve as the main host for third-party auditors.
- Ensure product processing aligns with the company’s HACCP/HARPC programs.
- Inform Quality Assurance Management of any food safety concerns.
- Implement and manage food safety corrective actions.
- Assist local and corporate management in updating the food safety system; help create, review, authenticate, and maintain food safety documents (SOPs, programs) in collaboration with the quality assurance team.
- Maintain document registers and documentation.
- Demonstrate innovation, resourcefulness, and proactivity in driving continuous improvement and delivering quality service.
- Prioritize tasks and meet deadlines accurately.
- Follow health, safety, and cleanliness standards.
- Handle additional duties as assigned by the QA supervisor and QA manager.
- Maintain excellent attendance and punctuality for an hourly role.
- Utilize soft skills to build and maintain positive relationships with customers and production personnel.
Requirements
- High School Diploma/GED required.
- Computer skills, including basic Microsoft Excel.
- Analytical and problem-solving abilities.
- Strong organizational and multitasking skills.
- Ability to perform basic mental math.
- Effective teamwork and collaboration skills.
- Strong communication skills in English.
- Ability to balance productivity, quality, and safety.
- Ability to work in a fast-paced environment.
Preferred Qualifications
- Prior quality assurance experience.
- Food manufacturing experience.
- Knowledge and understanding of applicable FDA regulations and GMPs.
- Experience performing administrative work, including completing and reconciling paperwork.
Working Conditions
- Primarily static role with standing; requires repetitive bending and standing.
- Ability to lift 10–35 lbs repetitively and up to 45 lbs occasionally.
- Ability to push/pull up to 250 lbs on rollers occasionally.
- Operates in a wet and cold/refrigerated environment (~35°F) within a manufacturing, warehousing, and production facility.
- Must withstand cold temperatures for the duration of the shift.
- Facilities may process, pack, or store products containing allergenic food ingredients (FDA-referenced); team members in direct contact must be able to work with these ingredients.
