FSP Senior Scientist: Synthetic Molecule Pharmaceutics

This is a fully onsite role based at our customer’s site in South San Francisco, CA. We welcome applicants from all locations within the US. About the role

Join our Laboratories Functional Service Partnership (FSP) team, which plays a direct role in advancing drug development by creating sustained groups of talent within our customers’ organizations to provide long-term support. Through this collaborative approach, our professionals bring their commitment to excellence, industry knowledge, and operational strength directly into customer environments, helping to enhance capabilities and advance the delivery of life-changing therapies.

Our team specializes in synthetic molecules and novel modalities (e.g., nucleic acids, peptides, conjugates) that are given to patients via parenteral routes of administration (e.g., intravenous, subcutaneous, intrathecal, intravitreal). We develop formulations, innovative drug delivery approaches, and manufacturing processes that help bring these novel therapeutics to patients across therapeutic areas.

Responsibilities

  • Formulation Preparation: Independently prepare drug products and novel formulations utilizing a variety of different compositions.
  • Analytical Characterization: Independently analyze formulations using a diverse suite of analytical techniques (including spectroscopy, rheology, chromatography, calorimetry, light scattering, and physicochemical property measurements) to assess structure, composition, and physicochemical properties.
  • Data Analysis & Experimental Design: Review and process experimental data, identify key trends and takeaways, and propose hypothesis-driven follow-up experiments.
  • Literature Research: Conduct literature research to interpret experimental results and guide development.
  • Technical Communication: Present research findings and deliver technical recommendations to cross-functional teams within the Synthetic Molecule Pharmaceutics group.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in lab sciences such as Chemistry, Biochemistry, Material Science, Immunology, Biology, Molecular Biology or similar.
  • Previous experience that provides the knowledge, skills, and abilities to perform the job (comparable to 4-6 years). In some cases, an equivalency, consisting of a combination of appropriate education, training and/or directly related experience, will be considered sufficient.
  • Proven track record of working independently in a laboratory environment, preferably with experience focused on oligonucleotide or nucleic acid drug products.
  • Foundational knowledge of pharmaceutical science, with a strong focus on solutions and colloids.
  • Solid understanding of spectroscopic, rheologic, and calorimetric analytical techniques.
  • Strong experimental execution and advanced data interpretation skills.
  • Effective written and verbal communication skills; ability to collaborate seamlessly in a fast-paced team setting.

Environmental Conditions

  • Laboratory setting with some degree of PPE (Personal Protective Equipment) required (safety glasses, gowning, gloves, lab coat, ear plugs, etc.).
  • Able to communicate, receive, and understand information and ideas with diverse groups of people in a comprehensible and reasonable manner.
  • Able to work upright and stationary and/or standing for typical working hours.
  • Able to lift and move objects up to 25 pounds.
  • Able to work in non-traditional work environments.
  • Able to use and learn standard office equipment and technology with proficiency.
  • May have exposure to potentially hazardous elements, including infectious agents, typically found in healthcare or laboratory environments.
  • Able to perform successfully under pressure while prioritizing and handling multiple projects or activities.

Pay

The salary range estimated for this position based in California is $32.89–$45.00 per hour. This position may also be eligible to receive a variable annual bonus based on company, team, and/or individual performance results in accordance with company policy.
