Position Purpose
The Frozen Supervisor is responsible for supporting the daily operations of the Frozen Department to ensure exceptional customer service, product quality, inventory accuracy, merchandising excellence, and operational efficiency. This position assists in leading department associates, maintaining proper inventory levels, ensuring product availability, and supporting department goals while delivering a clean, organized, and customer-focused shopping experience.
Responsibilities
- Department Operations: Support daily Frozen Department operations and ensure department standards are maintained. Assist with execution of company programs, merchandising initiatives, and promotional events. Ensure department conditions meet standards for cleanliness, organization, safety, and product quality. Monitor product availability and maintain in-stock conditions throughout the department. Support achievement of departmental sales and operational goals.
- Customer Service: Deliver and promote exceptional customer service throughout the department. Assist customers with product inquiries, product selection, and product location assistance. Resolve customer concerns promptly and professionally. Foster a customer-focused culture that drives satisfaction and repeat business. Ensure associates provide friendly, efficient, and knowledgeable service.
- Merchandising & Product Quality: Maintain attractive, fully stocked, and properly merchandised frozen food displays. Ensure accurate pricing, signage, and promotional execution. Monitor product rotation, code dates, and quality standards. Remove damaged, discontinued, or unsellable merchandise promptly. Support seasonal, promotional, and special merchandising programs.
- Inventory Management & Shrink Control: Assist with ordering and replenishment activities to ensure product availability. Monitor inventory levels and identify out-of-stock opportunities. Support inventory counts and maintain accurate department records. Ensure proper storage and handling procedures are followed. Assist in reducing shrink through effective inventory control and rotation practices.
- Leadership & Team Development: Provide daily leadership, guidance, and support to department associates. Assist with training and onboarding of new associates. Promote teamwork, accountability, and operational excellence. Monitor task completion and provide coaching as needed. Support employee development and performance improvement efforts.
- Food Safety & Compliance: Ensure compliance with food safety, sanitation, and company standards. Monitor freezer temperatures and storage conditions. Ensure products are stored, handled, and displayed according to company guidelines. Maintain sanitation schedules and department cleanliness standards. Address food safety concerns promptly and effectively.
- Operational Excellence: Monitor productivity and workflow within the department. Support efficient receiving, stocking, and replenishment activities. Maintain organized freezer, backroom, and sales floor areas. Identify opportunities to improve department execution and efficiency. Partner with store leadership to achieve department and store objectives.
- Safety & Compliance: Follow and enforce company safety policies and procedures. Maintain a clean and hazard-free work environment. Ensure safe operation of pallet jacks, carts, ladders, and department equipment. Report and address safety concerns immediately. Support accident prevention and workplace safety initiatives.
Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent preferred.
- Previous frozen food, grocery, retail, or merchandising experience preferred.
- Prior leadership or supervisory experience preferred.
- Knowledge of inventory management, merchandising, and customer service principles.
- Strong communication, organizational, and leadership skills.
- Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced retail environment.
- Basic computer and reporting skills.
Physical Requirements
- Ability to stand and walk for extended periods.
- Frequent lifting, carrying, pushing, and pulling of merchandise up to company standards.
- Ability to work in freezer and refrigerated environments for extended periods.
- Frequent bending, reaching, kneeling, and repetitive hand movements.
- Ability to safely operate pallet jacks, carts, ladders, and department equipment.
