Frozen Food Supervisor

Duties And Responsibilities

• Affords assistance to the Grocery Manager in overseeing the frozen food department operations.
• Supervises and trains personnel within the frozen food department.
• Maintains the quality and condition of all frozen grocery products, including stock rotation, product facing, discarding of out-of-code and spoiled products, and maintaining the backroom.
• Cleans and maintains shelves, assists in ordering, receiving, storing, and stocking frozen merchandise, and assists in inventory control and display planning.
• Encourages and maintains a customer-focused environment, engaging in suggestive selling and other sales techniques.
• Collaborates with the Grocery Manager to plan and organize merchandise requirements and special sales needs, rotating and facing products, processing and discarding outdated and spoiled products.
• Orders frozen merchandise, trains, teaches, and coaches staff on dairy stocking and conditioning standards, assists with dry grocery order writing, grocery stocking and conditioning, works on new items, assists with the reclamation process, manages backroom inventory, conditions, and standards, and assists with merchandising and building displays.

• Strong written and oral communication skills, good leadership and interpersonal skills, and the ability to maintain composure in various customer interactions.
• Effective interaction with all levels of personnel, customers, vendors, and the public.
• Frequent reaching, lifting, stacking, and maneuvering of objects up to approximately 80 lbs., standing, walking, moving for long periods, bending, stooping, twisting, turning, pushing and pulling fully loaded hand trucks, six-wheel carts, and pallet jacks.
• Ability to climb ladders.
• Mental alertness for safe and accurate work activities and repetitive tasks.
• Knowledge of basic mathematics, inventory control, pricing, merchandising, and shipping and receiving procedures.
• Ability to use cleaning supplies and chemicals as needed.
• Safety-sensitive position requiring compliance with company policies and adherence to safety guidelines.

Work Environment

• Exposure to cleaning chemicals.
• Frequent exposure to temperatures ranging from 35°F while handling product in a cold case, 28°F in a cooler, and -20°F in a freezer.
• Occasional exposure to outdoor environments with varying temperatures.
• Temperature-controlled store environment with occasional exposure to varying temperatures in the loading and receiving area.
