Frozen Food Clerk

About the role

As a Frozen Food Clerk, you will keep all store frozen cases stocked and clean during business hours while assisting customers with a friendly, energetic demeanor. This position requires adherence to all procedural guidelines set by the Frozen Department.

Responsibilities

• Ensure cleanliness of frozen cases, storage areas, and work areas for safety, including cleaning shelves, products, floors, and removing hazardous debris
• Stock frozen cases, ensuring proper product presentation, facing, filling, organization, and tag/pricing accuracy according to Frozen Department schematics
• Examine rotation of all frozen products, discarding expired or spoiled items
• Assist customers with purchases, information, and product selection, including selling and cross-selling products
• Receive, inspect, and log products for accuracy of shipment, temperature, and quality
• Monitor point-of-purchase signs, recipe cards, product coupons, promotional materials, and information on complementary foods
• Operate equipment such as knives, scales, wrappers, compactors, garbage disposals, pallet jacks, and hand trucks
• Use knowledge of scales and weight measures to accurately weigh and label products
• Maintain a high level of product knowledge and product preparation
• Walk the department regularly to ensure an organized, sanitary, and clean appearance
• Perform other duties as assigned

Requirements

• At least 18 years of age with a high school diploma or GED
• Preferred 1-2 years of grocery retail experience in Frozen department processes and procedures
• Maintain the highest level of customer service at all times
• Support and contribute to team goals
• Basic knowledge of math, weights, and measures
• Ability to work varied hours/days as business dictates

Physical Demands

• Vertically/horizontally transfer boxes/crates weighing 40-60 lbs. from 5” to 72” or from 62” to 9” for distances up to 10 feet, for 6-50 hours without mechanical assistance
• Use a pallet jack to move product weighing 500-1000 lbs., requiring 25-50 lbs. of force, for distances of 15-50 feet, for 5-50 hours
• Exert upper body forces up to 10 lbs. for up to 1 hour
• Apply coupling forces between 50-60 lbs. for up to 10 hours
• Use a 2-step stool to access shelves up to 1 time per 8 hours
• Repetitively bend/squat to access points 5 inches from the floor for up to 30 hours
• Stand continuously for up to 4 hours, totaling 8 hours per shift
• Work inside controlled temperatures, including coolers/freezers
• Vision required for ordering, stocking, and inventorying products
• Walk up to 3 miles per 8-hour shift

Pay

The pay range for this position is $17.15 - $22.30 per hour. Pay is determined based on applicable experience and qualifications of the applicant.
