Front of House Manager

About the role

The Redfern House Manager reports to the Artistic Director and is required by state law for all events that are open to the public in a performance venue. This role oversees the Front-of-House staff, ensuring their safety and the overall patron experience.

Responsibilities

• Hires, trains, schedules, and manages Redfern Front of House staff.
• Staffs and organizes usher needs for all performances.
• Trains volunteer ushers as needed for rental events.
• Hires, trains, schedules, and/or supervises Assistant House Managers and Backup House Managers.
• Collaborates with Redfern Artistic Director to determine performance needs.
• Coordinates with Box Office Manager for staffing and resolving patron issues.
• Ensures excellent customer service and smooth operations during performances.
• Maintains the lobby and public areas, communicating with Redfern staff for cleanliness.
• Completes and distributes house reports for each performance.

Requirements

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Minimum 2 years of experience in customer service or working with the public.
• Supervisory experience.
• Crowd Manager Certification (provided upon hire).

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities

• Ability to work in a dynamic and changeable environment.
• Ability to work variable and flexible schedules, including evenings and weekends.
• Ability to stand for extended periods and navigate stairs quickly.
• Supervisory experience in an academic setting.
