About the role

Supervises the quality of performance for employees on one’s team. Assists with interviewing, hiring, counseling, disciplining, and performance reviews according to healthcare organization requirements. Assists in training new staff and developing existing staff. Oversees adequate staffing and scheduling. Ensures the department meets all regulatory requirements.

Ensures adequate amounts of food supplies are ordered and available to produce planned menus. Writes, tests, and implements new and standardized recipes within guidelines. Advises on the appearance, taste, and sanitation of food. Conducts meetings and performs follow-ups as needed.

Demonstrates effective leadership and management skills, including delegation, conflict management, and negotiation. Adapts to continuous change while maintaining composure under pressure. Supervises staff accountability and productivity. Practices positive collaboration and converts difficult interactions into productive ones. Displays knowledge of quality management methods and tools.

Responsibilities

  • Supervise team performance and assist with HR processes (interviewing, hiring, counseling, disciplining, and reviews).
  • Train and develop new and existing staff members.
  • Manage staffing, scheduling, and regulatory compliance for the department.
  • Order and manage food supplies to support planned menus.
  • Develop, test, and implement new and standardized recipes.
  • Advise on food appearance, taste, and sanitation standards.
  • Conduct team meetings and follow-ups.
  • Demonstrate leadership in conflict resolution, delegation, and adaptability under pressure.
  • Ensure staff accountability and productivity.
  • Collaborate effectively and promote a quality-focused environment.
  • Use basic office equipment and computers proficiently.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent required.
  • Minimum of two years’ experience in the food service or food production industry.
  • CDM (Certified Dietary Manager) certification or registered dietitian preferred; some departments may require CDM certification within two years of hire.
  • May be required to pass the Serve Safe certification within a year of hire, depending on certifications.

Pay

Salary range: $21.50 – $34.50 per hour.

Schedule

  • Full-time position.
  • 8-hour varied shifts.
  • 40 hours per week.
