Front-end Software Engineering Technical Leader
About the role
As a Front-End Software Engineering Technical Leader in Cisco’s CX Engineering organization, you will play a critical role in shaping the future of AI-driven solutions across Cisco's product and services portfolio. You will serve as the strategic link between architectural vision and high-fidelity design, defining the roadmap for our enterprise-wide Angular ecosystem. By promoting a "design-first" approach, you will drive the delivery of intuitive, AI-enhanced interfaces that simplify critical user workflows. You will set the high-water mark for performance, accessibility, and architectural standards across the organization and develop a culture of design-driven innovation that ensures our products remain resilient, scalable, and elite.
Responsibilities
- Front-End Architecture: Lead the architectural design of large-scale front-end applications. Define standards for modular architecture, state management patterns, and cross-team code sharing.
- Architectural Vision: Define the long-term technical roadmap for the front-end ecosystem, driving the adoption of advanced Angular patterns that support large-scale, enterprise applications.
- Design System Governance: Act as the primary authority for the organization’s design-to-code workflow. Lead the development and evolution of a comprehensive design system, ensuring that Figma and Adobe XD assets are fully aligned with the Angular component library and design tokens.
- Multi-functional Leadership: Partner with design leads and product management to influence product design at the ideation stage. Ensure that technical capabilities are fully aligned with intuitive, high-fidelity user journeys.
- Innovation & Performance: Set enterprise standards for accessibility (WCAG), performance optimization, and AI-enabled interface patterns within the Angular ecosystem.
- Mentorship: Lead and influence senior engineers, facilitating architectural deep-dives, driving technical consensus, and fostering a culture of excellence in UI/UX and design-driven engineering.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or similar STEM field, or equivalent experience.
- 8+ years of professional front-end engineering experience.
- Experience with Figma or Adobe XD as primary tools for architectural design, iteration, and enhancing user satisfaction and functional efficiency.
- Experience with Angular, RxJS, and TypeScript.
Qualifications
- Experience architecting front-end solutions for AI-driven platforms (LLM interfaces, agentic UI).
- Experience in Design Token management and bridging the gap between designers and developers.
- Strong understanding of Performance Metrics (Lighthouse, Core Web Vitals) in an Angular context.
- Ability to interpret user behavior data (analytics, heatmaps) and translate it into actionable UI improvements.
- Strong verbal and written communication, with the ability to articulate architectural decisions to non-technical collaborators.
- Experience designing UIs that integrate LLM outputs or Copilot-style AI assistants into professional workflows.
- Ability to navigate ambiguity, drive technical consensus, and communicate architectural concepts to diverse collaborators.
- Cisco networking knowledge is a plus.
