Responsibilities
- Great clients and their pets warmly as they arrive at the salon.
- Aid clients with check-in and check-out procedures, ensuring accurate record-keeping.
- Answer phone calls and respond to emails in a professional and friendly manner.
- Schedule grooming appointments, considering groomer availability and client preferences.
- Provide clients with information about our grooming services, pricing, and any special offers.
- Maintain cleanliness and organization at the front desk area.
- Handle client inquiries, concerns, or complaints with patience and empathy.
- Collaborate with the grooming team to ensure smooth workflow and timely service.
- Update and maintain client records, ensuring accuracy and confidentiality.
- Auxiliary in managing grooming schedules to optimize efficiency and minimize wait times.
- Promote and upsell salon services, retail products, and add-on options to clients when appropriate.
Skills and Qualifications
- Experience in animal care: Previous experience working with dogs, especially in a grooming or similar setting, is often preferred.
- Comfort and confidence with dogs: Ability to handle dogs of various sizes, breeds, and temperaments calmly and safely.
- Grooming knowledge: Understanding of basic grooming techniques, including bathing, drying, brushing, and nail trimming.
- Strong communication skills: Ability to communicate effectively with pet owners and colleagues.
- Attention to detail: Ensuring thoroughness in all grooming tasks and paying attention to detail in all aspects of the job.
- Physical stamina: Dog bathers need to be able to stand for extended periods and handle the physical demands of working with animals.
- Positive attitude and passion for animals: A genuine love for dogs and a positive, friendly demeanor are essential for creating a welcoming environment.
Physical Demands
- Lifting: Dog bathers must be able to lift and carry dogs of different sizes and weights. This can involve lifting dogs up to 50 pounds independently and potentially assisting with heavier dogs.
- Standing: The job requires prolonged standing, often for the duration of the workday.
- Bending and Stooping: Dog bathers need to bend, stoop, and crouch to wash and dry dogs, especially smaller breeds.
- Reaching: They need to reach for grooming tools, wash basins, and other supplies.
- Manual Dexterity: Handling tools, drying equipment, and working with dogs requires good hand-eye coordination and dexterity.
- Endurance: The job demands stamina to handle multiple dogs throughout the day.
Work Environment
- Wet Environment: Dog bathers work in a wet environment with water and cleaning solutions.
- Noise: The grooming environment can be noisy due to water, dryers, and dog barking.
