About the role
Incumbents provide courteous customer service associated with point-of-sale systems, class registrations, memberships, passes, basic clerical duties, and other related work. Receives direction from higher level Parks and Recreation supervisory and management staff.
Responsibilities
- Attend the front desk of a Parks and Recreation facility and provide general information in person, online, or by telephone about services, processing registrations, issuing memberships, passes, taking fees, cashiering, food and retail sales, and similar customer service duties.
- Oversee participants to ensure safety and compliance with policies; provide information about the facility and/or events.
- Open and close facilities as assigned; conduct walkthroughs for participant counts.
- Assist with basic receptionist and clerical work, including recordkeeping.
- Prepare and serve food such as popcorn, hotdogs, pretzels, and fountain sodas using standard formulas or following directions.
- Stock supplies such as food or retail sales inventory safely and efficiently.
- Maintain a clean and orderly cashier station; perform routine cleaning tasks.
- Represent the City of Casper by responding to the public, citizens, employees, and others in a prompt, professional, and courteous manner while maintaining a positive customer service demeanor.
- Perform other duties of a similar nature or level.
Requirements
- Knowledge of receptionist and customer service principles, cashiering, mathematical calculations, and recordkeeping.
- Ability to work a variety of shifts including weekends and holidays.
- Ability to learn cashiering methods, procedures, and cash register operation.
- Demonstrate the City of Casper core values; follow all City safety rules and procedures.
- Facilitate visitor and customer traffic; encourage safety protocols.
- Respond to inquiries, complaints, and requests; maintain attention to detail in a work situation with frequent interruptions.
- Handle multiple customers simultaneously; learn the general layout of the facility to assist visitors.
- Organize and prioritize tasks efficiently; operate modern office equipment, software, and operating systems.
- Maintain a neat and professional appearance; communicate effectively.
- Follow written and verbal instructions; establish and maintain effective working relationships.

Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent (G.E.D.) preferred.
- First Aid/CPR certification preferred.
- Six months of experience in a public setting providing customer service preferred.
- Must be at least 16 years of age, preferably 18 years or older.
Physical Requirements
- Positions in this class typically require stooping, kneeling, crouching, reaching, standing, walking, pushing, pulling, lifting, grasping, talking, hearing, seeing, and repetitive motions.
- Light Work: Exerting up to 20 pounds of force occasionally and/or up to 10 pounds of force frequently.
- Work is primarily indoors in a front desk/counter environment with common office noises (telephones, copiers, printers).
- Frequent sitting, typing, and customer contact, both by telephone and in person.
Supplemental Information
Employment is contingent upon a successful background screen and pre-employment drug test. The successful candidate must utilize direct deposit for payroll purposes. Driving records are required for all new employees regardless of the position's driving requirements.
