About the Role

The front desk clerk is primarily responsible for overseeing the duties and functions of the medical front office area and ensuring that they are carried out with accuracy, timeliness and confidentiality.

Responsibilities

  • Greet all patients as they come and exit our services.
  • Verify and select the correct insurance company for all patients.
  • Use PTAR to verify patient's eligibility for a metro card.
  • Work in partnership with clinicians and providers to schedule all appointments.
  • Work in partnership with the billers and coders to ensure proper authorization for services is secured.
  • Work in partnership with the billing department to alert them of any patient who requires MA, Marketplace application.
  • Collect co-payments of insured patients and screen patients for self-pay classification.
  • Alert supervisor of any patients with inactive insurance at time of discovery.
  • Work in partnership with all providers in rescheduling no shows.
  • Pull all case records for the providers the day before.
  • Assist with loading encounters if needed.
  • Maintain accurate records of billing claim submission.
  • Ensure the accuracy of daily census reporting.
  • Assist in clerical duties if needed.
  • Update patient's demographic at time of service.
  • Submit daily checklist.
  • Engage in self-audits.
  • Assist in third party billing as needed.
  • Other duties and responsibilities assigned by the director.

Requirements

  • Minimum of one (1) year previous relevant experience in an office setting, Healthcare Industry preferred.
  • High School diploma or GED required.
  • Associate's degree preferred.
  • Demonstrated knowledge of medical billing principles and practices.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office with strong typing and computer skills.
  • Experience working in a fast-paced administrative atmosphere.
  • Bilingual and literate in English/Spanish highly preferred.
