Front Desk Agent
About the role
The Element Overland Park is seeking a full-time Front Desk Agent to join their team. This position offers a genuine opportunity to create memorable experiences for guests and contribute to a welcoming hotel environment.
Responsibilities
- Register guests and assign rooms.
- Accommodate special requests whenever possible.
- Accomplish preregistration and block rooms for reservations.
- Thoroughly understand and adhere to proper credit, check-cashing, and cash handling policies and procedures.
- Understand room status and room status tracking.
- Know room locations, types of rooms available, and room rates.
- Be sales-minded, presenting options and alternatives to guests and offering assistance in making choices.
- Use suggestive selling techniques to sell rooms and promote other services of the hotel.
- Know the location and types of available rooms as well as the activities and services of the property.
- Coordinate room status updates with the housekeeping department by notifying housekeeping of all check-outs, late check-outs, early check-ins, special requests, and day use rooms.
- Possess a working knowledge of the reservations department, taking same-day and future reservations as necessary.
- Know cancellation procedures, use proper front office equipment, and process guest check-outs.
- Work closely with the housekeeping department to keep room status reports updated and coordinate requests for maintenance and repair work.
- Use proper telephone etiquette, mail, package, and message handling procedures.
- Attend department meetings and report any unusual occurrences or requests to the manager or assistant manager.
- Know all safety and emergency procedures and be aware of accident prevention policies.
- Maintain the cleanliness and neatness of the front desk area.
- Be prepared to move from accustomed shifts to other shifts as needed due to business demands.
Requirements
- High school graduate or equivalent education.
- Previous hotel-related experience preferred.
- Requires fingering, grasping, writing, standing, sitting, walking, repetitive motions, hearing, and visual acuity.
- May occasionally need to lift and carry up to 40 pounds.
Qualifications
- Must possess a valid driver’s license.
- Must be able to communicate effectively both verbally and in writing.
- Must be able to work flexible hours including weekends and holidays.
Skills
- Excellent customer service skills.
- Strong organizational and multitasking abilities.
- Ability to handle multiple tasks simultaneously.
- Knowledge of hotel operations and procedures.
- Proficiency with front office equipment.

Pay
The salary range for this position is $15 - $20 per hour, depending on experience.
Schedule
