About the role
As a Master Control Operator at Spectrum News, you will be the quality control for all technical aspects of our news and sports programming. You will be responsible for audio mixing, video editing, graphic design, closed captions, video quality, spelling, and more. You will work in a fast-paced environment that will require you to multitask and keep an eye out for any issues that might arise.
Responsibilities
- Handle multiple projects at once
- Collaborate with the production team to keep your local community informed
- Quality assess all content before it airs for accuracy and relevance
Requirements
- Experience working in television news, 0-2 years
- Advanced knowledge of a variety of broadcast equipment and technology within assigned operating areas
- Strong technical aptitude and experience with television control room and studio production technology
- Ability to organize and manage shifting priorities under tight deadlines and in pressure situations
- Ability to multi-task and adapt quickly to change
Qualifications
- High School diploma
- Bachelor’s degree in technical discipline or related field, or comparable television work experience preferred

- Strong technical aptitude and experience with television control room and studio production technology

Pay
The base pay for this position generally is between $20.00 and $31.00 per hour. The actual compensation offered will carefully consider a wide range of factors, including your skills, qualifications, experience, and location.
Schedule
Ability to work various shifts, longer shifts, weekends and holidays, and be flexible with schedule changes due to “breaking news,” and/or severe weather emergencies.
