About the role
As a Master Control Operator at Spectrum News, you will handle multiple projects at once, working with the production team to keep your local community informed. You will be responsible for audio mixing, video editing, graphic design, closed captions, video quality, spelling, and more. You will work in a fast-paced environment that requires multitasking and attention to detail.
Responsibilities
- Handle audio mixing, video editing, graphic design, closed captions, and video quality
- Collaborate with the production team to ensure accurate, engaging, informative, and entertaining broadcasts
- Quality assess all content before it airs for accuracy and relevance
Requirements
- Experience working in television news, 0-2 years
- Advanced knowledge of a variety of broadcast equipment and technology within assigned operating areas
- Strong technical aptitude and experience with television control room and studio production technology
- Ability to organize and manage shifting priorities under tight deadlines and in pressure situations
- Ability to multi-task and adapt quickly to change
- Ability to push/pull/maneuver equipment up to 50lbs lbs
- Ability to work various shifts, longer shifts, weekends and holidays, and be flexible with schedule changes due to “breaking news,” and/or severe weather emergencies
Preferred Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in technical discipline or related field, or comparable television work experience
Skills
- Strong technical aptitude and experience with television control room and studio production technology
- Automated on-air playout systems, newsroom editorial software, non-linear editing systems, microwave/satellite systems, bonded cellular systems, and router systems

Spectrum offers a comprehensive pay and benefits package that includes competitive compensation, a variety of incentives, and support for all aspects of well-being. The base pay for this position generally is between $20.00 and $40.60, with additional forms of incentive-based compensation available.
Pay
The actual compensation offered will carefully consider a wide range of factors, including skills, qualifications, experience, and location. We comply with local wage minimums and also, certain positions are eligible for additional forms of other incentive-based compensation such as bonuses.
Schedule
Ability to work various shifts, longer shifts, weekends and holidays, and be flexible with schedule changes due to “breaking news,” and/or severe weather emergencies.
