Master Control Operator - Spectrum News

About the role

As a Master Control Operator at Spectrum News, you will handle multiple projects at once, ensuring all technical aspects of news and sports programming are of the highest quality. You will work closely with the production team to keep your local community informed and will be responsible for audio mixing, video editing, graphic design, closed captions, video quality, spelling, and more.

Requirements

• Experience working in television news, 0-2 years
• Advanced knowledge of a variety of broadcast equipment and technology within assigned operating areas
• Strong technical aptitude and experience with television control room and studio production technology
• Ability to organize and manage shifting priorities under tight deadlines and in pressure situations
• Ability to multi-task and adapt quickly to change
• Ability to push/pull/maneuver equipment up to 50lbs
• Ability to work various shifts, longer shifts, weekends and holidays, and be flexible with schedule changes due to “breaking news,” and/or severe weather emergencies

Preferred Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in technical discipline or related field, or comparable television work experience

Pay

The base pay for this position generally is between $20.00 and $31.00. The actual compensation offered will carefully consider a wide range of factors, including your skills, qualifications, experience, and location. We comply with local wage minimums and also, certain positions are eligible for additional forms of other incentive-based compensation such as bonuses.

Schedule

Ability to work various shifts, longer shifts, weekends and holidays, and be flexible with schedule changes due to “breaking news,” and/or severe weather emergencies
