About the opportunity
Schedule: Monday to Friday
Hours: Standard Business Hours
Setting: Hybrid (3x a week onsite)
Location: Winchester, Virginia or Vienna, Virginia or Pensacola, FL
Responsibilities
- Monitoring member account activity to identify potential fraud, account abuse, and suspicious transactions
- Reviewing, analyzing, and managing fraud and forgery cases prior to escalation to Security for investigation
- Tracking fraud cases and communicating status updates to internal business partners and stakeholders
- Identifying fraud trends and recommending process, policy, and technology improvements to strengthen fraud prevention efforts
- Collaborating with Security and cross-functional teams to support fraud detection, incident response, and risk mitigation initiatives
- Collecting, analyzing, and maintaining fraud data to support reporting, trend analysis, and operational decision-making
- Serving as a subject matter resource on fraud trends, emerging risks, and fraud prevention best practices
- Assisting with the development and implementation of fraud policies, procedures, and incident response standards
- Serving as a subject matter resource on fraud trends, emerging risks, and fraud prevention best practices
- Supporting training initiatives related to fraud processes, system enhancements, and procedural updates
Qualifications
- 2+ years of experience in Fraud Operations, Fraud Investigations, Financial Crimes, or Financial Services
- Bachelor's degree in Business, Finance, Criminal Justice, or a related field
- Experience supporting Fraud Detection, Fraud Prevention, or Fraud Case Management within a financial institution
- Knowledge of Fraud Detection techniques, Fraud Investigations, and Suspicious Activity analysis
- Experience analyzing Transaction Data and identifying Fraud patterns and trends
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office, including Excel
- Strong analytical, organizational, and problem-solving skills
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills
- Ability to prioritize multiple assignments while working independently and collaboratively
Desired Qualifications
- Experience working within a Credit Union or Banking environment
- Familiarity with NCUA regulations and Financial Services Compliance requirements
- Knowledge of Fraud Monitoring platforms and Case Management systems
- Experience with Reporting tools, Data Analysis, or SQL
- Solid understanding of Depository and Consumer Lending Operations
- Experience supporting Process Improvement or Fraud Prevention initiatives
- Knowledge of Incident Response and Root Cause Analysis methodologies
