Founding SDR
About the role
The opportunity is for a Founding Sales Development Representative (SDR) at DocAssistant, a profitable healthcare AI company. This role is part of the company’s first dedicated sales team.
Responsibilities
- Own outbound prospecting across emergency medicine and acute care groups — Medical Directors, CMOs, ED Directors, practice managers, and group presidents.
- Book discovery calls and demos, and run follow-up cadences that never drop a loop.
- Drive customer onboarding and early adoption: short setup sessions and post-shift check-ins with physicians until usage sticks — onboarding is retention here, and you own it.
- Represent DocAssistant at 3+ conferences per year (AAEM, ACEP, EDPMA and more) and on visits to target hospitals.
- Manage usage tracking, client updates, and renewals support in HubSpot.
Requirements
- Follow-through is your whole game: you close every loop without being chased, update physicians and executives proactively, and finish multi-step processes end to end.
- Smart, hungry, early-to-mid career: you learn a technical clinical product fast and hold your own with skeptical, brilliant buyers.
- Phone-native: comfortable tracking down numbers, cold calling a Medical Director, and texting a doctor after a night shift.
- Motivated by upside and scope, not base: you want a founding seat, not a cog seat.
- Healthcare or med-tech exposure (scribe services, EHR, clinical staffing) is a plus, not a requirement.
Qualifications
- US-based with full-time availability; open to conference and hospital travel.
Benefits
- Realistic year-one earnings: $100,000-$120,000+, uncapped (final structure confirmed in process).
- Independent contractor (1099) with a full-time commitment, based in San Diego (within ~30 minutes).
- Growth path in writing: Founding SDR → AE / founding closer within 12-18 months, with conversion to employee as the company scales.
Pay
Monthly retainer as a guaranteed floor, plus a two-layer variable: milestone bonuses on qualified pilots you launch, and commission on first-year contract value of deals you source.
Schedule
Independent contractor (1099) with a full-time commitment, based in San Diego (within ~30 minutes).
How to Apply
The application takes roughly 9 minutes: quick logistics up front, then a few focused questions about your sales experience, how fast you learn a technical product, and how you’d pitch a skeptical ER doctor. Example: one question will ask you to describe your best cold-outreach win: how you found the decision-maker, how you got through, and what happened. Early-career? Tell us how you got something nobody would give you. We personally review every submission. No auto-rejections. If your application moves forward, you will hear from us within a few business days.
