Founding Program Director for Emergency Medicine: HCA HealthONE Swedish (Denver)
About the role
This role combines leadership of the residency program with clinical practice at a busy suburban trauma center with committed institutional leadership, dedicated GME infrastructure, and operational support. The Program Director will serve as the founding leader responsible for building the Emergency Medicine residency program from the ground up, including its design, structure, and strategic direction.
Responsibilities
- Develop the curriculum for the Emergency Medicine residency program
- Recruit faculty and residents for the program
- Establish program infrastructure and oversee all operational and administrative functions
- Lead ACGME accreditation efforts, including program application, site visit preparation, and ongoing compliance
- Integrate the Emergency Medicine residency program with physician practice and hospital clinical services to enhance quality and promote an optimal learning environment
Requirements
- Minimum of three (3) years’ experience as physician faculty in an ACGME accredited Emergency Medicine residency program
- Current Certification by the American Board of Emergency Medicine
- Demonstrate clinical competency as a practicing emergency physician
- Demonstrated experience in a leadership role (APD, core faculty, residency committee chair, or site director) in the most recent three years
- Demonstrated scholarly activity consistent with ACGME requirements (e.g., publications, presentations, or quality improvement work)
Qualifications
- Eligible for and able to obtain unrestricted medical licensure in Colorado prior to start
- Ongoing participation in ABEM Maintenance of Certification
- Incentive/Benefits Package: Competitive annual compensation starting $350,000-$400,000 plus incentive compensation. W2 employee model. Malpractice coverage through COPIC in a favorable malpractice climate in Colorado.
