About the role

Performs maintenance, testing, repair, and installation of electrical and instrumentation equipment in a power plant, working on live energized systems, using specialized test equipment, and ensuring compliance with safety and procedural standards.

Responsibilities

• Follow established work procedures and written maintenance instructions to diagnose and remedy improper performance of power plant equipment.
• Test, inspect, repair, replace, overhaul, and install complex circuits and equipment.
• Perform work on live energized equipment and conductors of any voltage in accordance with safety rules.
• Conduct complex diagnostic testing using specialized test equipment and analyze results.
• Diagnose trouble sources across multiple systems and repair/adjust transformers, circuit breakers, motors, switchgear, etc.
• Inspect, troubleshoot, maintain, repair, upgrade obsolete instrumentation and control systems.
• Perform disassembly, reassembly, overhaul, repair, testing, adjusting, replacing, and cleaning of electrical equipment.
• Conduct electrical tests and repair circuitry (static inverters, CRTs, excitation systems, automatic synchronizing equipment, primary trip relays, UPS, etc.).
• Direct, instruct, and train employees on maintenance, testing, calibration, installation, and repair of electrical/instrumentation systems.
• Ensure jobs are completed per approved maintenance, QA, and safety procedures.
• Assist in developing work schedules, work packages, material requests, and interfacing with vendors.
• Erect and work from self‑supporting, hanging, and aerial scaffolds up to specified heights.
• Operate auxiliary equipment (trenchers, skid loaders, backhoes, boring machines, forklifts) and material handling equipment.
• Build and repair complex cable splices and terminations; perform switching, voltage checks, and clearance requests.
• Perform rigging of structures, transformers, circuit breakers, and machinery.
