Overview of Role

We’re looking for technically sharp, customer-focused engineers who are excited to work directly with our partners to design and deliver integrations that unlock the full value of the Binti platform. As a Forward Deployed Engineer and part of the Integrations Engineering team, you’ll take ownership of high-impact, externally-facing technical projects — from on-site discovery and architecture sessions to live co-development and ongoing support. Strong candidates combine deep engineering experience with excellent communication skills, a service mindset, and the ability to thrive in dynamic, ambiguous environments.

About the Role

Binti is headquartered in San Francisco, California, with an office by Salesforce Park (team comes in Mondays & Thursdays) and a satellite office on Lake Union in Seattle. Remote is possible for the right candidate. This role involves up to 50% travel to support customers directly, including design/discovery sessions, co-development work, and technical onboarding.

Responsibilities

  • Participate in discovery and architecture sessions with customers to ensure integrations are designed to support customer needs, leverage the Binti platform effectively, and are performant, secure, and scalable.
  • Lead co-development sessions with customers’ development teams, working side-by-side in person or virtually, providing live support and consulting during integration with the Binti platform and APIs.
  • Develop relationships with customers’ technical teams to become a trusted partner for support and assistance.
  • Provide integration technical support, answering questions, offering consultative advice, and helping customers debug their integrations.
  • Collaborate with the Binti Integrations Team to develop improvements and bug fixes for Binti RESTful APIs, connectors, and integration tools.
  • Assist Program Management, Customer Support, and Sales teams by answering questions about integration capabilities and projects, and keeping them informed about customer usage and needs.
  • Synthesize and deliver product feedback to improve Binti’s modules and integration capabilities.
  • Champion security and privacy, including improving HIPAA compliance for sensitive data and incorporating security best practices.

Sample Projects

  • Meet on-site with a new customer to understand their workflow and information architecture, then design an integration using Binti’s APIs or connectors that meets their needs.
  • Pair closely with the Program Management Office (PMO) team to launch large statewide enterprise customers.
  • Collaborate side-by-side, virtually or in-person, with a customer integrating with Binti, providing live support during co-development.
  • Work with the Integration Engineering Team to develop new API endpoints, connectors, or other integration tools.
  • Respond to support requests from customers with existing integrations to debug, triage, and fix issues post-launch.

Requirements

  • At least 3 years of professional software engineering experience, preferably in a customer-facing role like integrations engineer, consultant, or similar.
  • Strong startup mindset: comfortable with ambiguity, balancing risks, and building MVPs that are iterated upon.
  • Familiarity with legacy systems (especially in government context) and the difficulties and tradeoffs they present.
  • Ability to architect, build, and maintain distributed integrated systems.
  • Comfortable with APIs, data pipelines (ETL), enterprise data warehouses (EDW), and related technologies.
  • Experience and ability to effectively project manage your own work and time.
  • Excellence in collaboration with cross-functional partners in product, program management, sales, and more.

Qualifications & Skills

  • Energized by working with customers to solve real-world problems, not just closing engineering tickets.
  • Ability to visualize how a large software system works while also considering interactions at the edges with customers’ systems.
  • History of shipping code and products while making customers happy.
  • Excellent verbal, written, and interpersonal communication skills.
  • Experienced and confident with Ruby/Ruby on Rails, but also comfortable in other languages like Python, C#, Java, etc.
  • Quick learner motivated by up-leveling skills and taking on new challenges.
  • Interest in Gen AI and experience/judgement in that area is a big plus.

Benefits & Perks

  • Above-market compensation package (salary + equity).
  • Excellent medical, dental, vision, and life insurance – 99% of insurance premiums covered for you and your dependents.
  • Flexible vacation time for a healthy work-life blend.
  • 13 paid holidays: 11 federally observed (including Juneteenth), plus Election Day and the day after Thanksgiving.
  • 16 weeks of paid parental bonding leave for a newborn or newly placed infant.
  • Sick/mental health time separate from vacation days (accrue up to 80 hours).
  • 4 weeks of sabbatical after 4 years of service.
  • 401k, Commuter benefits, FSA, and DCFSA.
  • $5,000 annual bonus for employees who volunteer as a CASA (court-appointed special advocate).
  • $2,500 annual reimbursement for ongoing learning and development, including trainings/conferences, on-site speaker series, and lunch and learns.
  • $300 reimbursement for initial office setup.
  • $50/month effective work reimbursement for internet, electricity, office costs, or lunch/snacks with coworkers.
  • Paid jury duty.
