About the role
The City of Marinette Department of Public Works is seeking a Forester to manage and maintain the City’s urban forest, parks, and right-of-way tree population.
Responsibilities
- Manage and maintain the City’s urban forest, parks, and right-of-way tree population.
- Plan and perform forestry, arboriculture, and landscape maintenance activities including tree planting, pruning, removals, inspections, equipment operation, and public interaction.
- Supervise crews, coordinate contractors, assist with grant projects, and respond to storm or emergency events under the direction of the Superintendent of Public Works.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in Forestry, Natural Resources, or related field (or equivalent combination of education and experience).
- One to two years of related experience preferred.
- Valid Wisconsin Commercial Driver’s License (CDL).
- Ability to obtain aerial lift certification and Wisconsin Commercial Pesticide Applicator License.
- Ability to work outdoors in all weather conditions and perform physical labor.
Qualifications
- Must establish residency within thirty (30) miles of the jurisdictional boundary of the City of Marinette in the State of Wisconsin within six months of hire.

Pay
The 2026 hourly pay for this position is up to $33.45 / hour. This position is eligible for the annual COLA pending City Council approval.
Schedule
The typical work schedule is 40 hours a week, 7:00 am – 3:30 pm (hours outside of normal schedule may vary based on seasonal and emergency response).
