About the role

The City of Marinette Department of Public Works is seeking a Forester to manage and maintain the City’s urban forest, parks, and right-of-way tree population.

Responsibilities

  • Manage and maintain the City’s urban forest, parks, and right-of-way tree population.
  • Plan and perform forestry, arboriculture, and landscape maintenance activities including tree planting, pruning, removals, inspections, equipment operation, and public interaction.
  • Supervise crews, coordinate contractors, assist with grant projects, and respond to storm or emergency events under the direction of the Superintendent of Public Works.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Forestry, Natural Resources, or related field (or equivalent combination of education and experience).
  • One to two years of related experience preferred.
  • Valid Wisconsin Commercial Driver’s License (CDL).
  • Ability to obtain aerial lift certification and Wisconsin Commercial Pesticide Applicator License.
  • Ability to work outdoors in all weather conditions and perform physical labor.

Qualifications

  • Must establish residency within thirty (30) miles of the jurisdictional boundary of the City of Marinette in the State of Wisconsin within six months of hire.

  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.

Pay

The 2026 hourly pay for this position is up to $33.45 / hour. This position is eligible for the annual COLA pending City Council approval.

Schedule

The typical work schedule is 40 hours a week, 7:00 am – 3:30 pm (hours outside of normal schedule may vary based on seasonal and emergency response).
