Forensic Interviewer (part-time)

About the role
As a Forensic Interviewer in the Kids-TALK Program, you will conduct developmentally and legally sound forensic interviews of children and adolescents. The goal is to obtain statements in a child-centered, developmentally-sensitive, unbiased, and truth-seeking manner. You will interview alleged victims of child sexual abuse, physical abuse, neglect, and other forms of trauma or child witnesses to violent crime, following the State of Michigan Forensic Interviewing Protocol. Collaboration with the Multidisciplinary Team is essential as part of ongoing investigations.
Responsibilities
- Conduct sensitive and thorough forensic interviews with children and adolescents.
- Adhere to the State of Michigan Forensic Interviewing Protocol.
- Collaborate with the Multidisciplinary Team during investigations of child abuse, neglect, or violent crime.
- Engage children 17 and under from diverse ethnic, racial, and socio-economic backgrounds.
- Handle crisis situations and manage sensitive case information appropriately.
- Develop collaborative relationships with other providers and assess complex family and community systems.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s Degree in a Human Services Related Field (required).
- One (1) year of experience working with abused/neglected children and adolescents and a multidisciplinary team (required).
- Experience and/or certification as a Forensic Interviewer (preferred).
- Training and experience in the Michigan Forensic Interviewing Protocol (priority).
- Working knowledge of the dynamics of child maltreatment and/or child development (required).
- Knowledge of the criminal justice system, Children’s Protective Services/Foster Care Services, and/or the courts (required).
- Valid driver’s license and favorable driving record (required).

Schedule
Regular working hours are Monday through Friday, 8:30 AM to 5:00 PM. Some evening or weekend hours will be required.
Pay
This is a salary grade 105 with hourly rates starting at $23.82. Compensation varies based on transferable work experience and qualifications.
