Forensic Architect - Global Construction
BRG’s Global Construction Consulting practice offers professional experience and competence in fact-finding, data analytics, claims/dispute analysis and management, and litigation support; along with technical expertise in engineering, architecture, construction management, public contracting, design-build, specifications and technical document development, schedule development and analysis, cost analysis, risk-management, negotiations, and expert witness testimony.
About the role
In this role, you will investigate the built environment, uncover hidden issues, and provide independent expert analysis of a variety of design and construction disputes. This position will be tasked with leading and helping to coordinate forensic investigations, providing consultation and expert witness services, and preparing and delivering technical papers. The work involves evaluating the Standard of Care required of each Design and Construction Professional associated with the Project, and can be either qualitative or quantitative in nature. Projects span various industries and include subject-matter research, data collection, and the preparation of statistical, financial, and other forms of analysis. This role requires a detail-oriented individual who enjoys document review, writing, and editing technical reports, and who can interact professionally with sophisticated clients.
Responsibilities
- Monitors team performance and metrics including utilization, job status, billable hours, and marketing.
- Delegates incoming assignments after careful review of which expert’s skillset best fits the job being assigned.
- Manages team quality and execution by providing technical and managerial guidance regarding methodology, analysis, supporting documentation, client interaction, and deliverable production.
- Continuously offers new avenues for improving protocols and standards to provide clients with an exceptional experience.
- Takes responsibility for P&L performance and compensation reviews.
- Meets with and presents to peers and clients.
- Conducts field observations, testing, and data collection.
- Prepares reports detailing observations made, tests conducted, and results obtained.
- Demonstrates creativity and learns to efficiently use relevant software tools, analytical methods, and computer models to develop solutions.
- Gains experience developing and maintaining electronic databases, spreadsheets, and other files as dictated by project needs.
- Performs detailed research and analysis, then puts the results into action (e.g., gather, review, summarize literature and data from the public domain, specialized industry resources, or client, public, and commercial databases).
- Audits own work products and work products of others to assure quality.
- Organizes case documents; creates and maintains hard copy and electronic libraries for documents and retrieves documents from libraries as necessary.
- Proficient in evaluation of design Standard of Care and analysis of Construction Defects.
- Proficient with the evaluation of the evolution of design, RFIs, Change Orders, and Submittals.
- Participates in a positive team environment and works hard to meet client deadlines and quality expectations.
- Demonstrates strong verbal public speaking and written communication skills.
Requirements
- A bachelor’s degree in architecture and a minimum of one professional architectural or engineering license. Candidate must be able to obtain licensure in multiple state jurisdictions.
- Minimum 10+ years field experience in the design industry. Prefer established professional experience in Design Management, Document Production, CAD and Revit experience, Construction Administration, Contracts, and Client Management.
- Must have excellent technical writing skills.
- Experience working collaboratively with and leading teams.
- Ability to work independently and remotely, and travel for client work when needed.
- Candidate must be able to submit verification of legal right to work in the U.S., without company sponsorship now or in the future.
Pay
Salary Range: $180,000 - $230,000
