About the role

You will investigate architectural and premises safety incidents. You will analyze documents and on-site conditions to determine the facts and issues at hand. You will write clear, scientifically sound reports and provide expert testimony. You will delve into the "why" behind incidents, critically assessing decision-making, operational procedures, and the standard of care.

Responsibilities

Requirements

  • Education: B.S. or higher in Architecture and an active state licensure in good standing.
  • Licensure: NCARB membership with multi-state licensure eligibility; AIA membership a plus.
  • Certification: Certified Playground Safety Inspector (CPSI), or willing to become certified.
  • Experience: 15+ years of post-degree experience, designing or working on buildings with a variety of Use Groups - Assembly, Business, Educational, Mercantile, Industrial, Institutional, Factory, and Residential, mixed-use; experience with code evaluation, specification writing and/or diagnosing building defects and design analysis; proven experience in construction, demonstrated through contract administration, construction management, design/build, and/or general contracting.
  • Additional Experience a Plus: Property management & BIM experience a plus.

Qualifications

  • In-depth knowledge of building safety and construction technology.
  • Excellent technical & analytical skills; strong written & verbal communication skills.
  • Ability: Safely climb/navigate ladders, roofs, scaffolding, etc. for inspection activities.

Work Style

  • Approximately 20% travel for inspections; the remainder is focused on analysis and report drafting, working independently and as part of a collaborative team.
