Job Description

Kokosing (www.kokosing.biz) is seeking a Structures Foreman to oversee construction projects in the Northern VA/DC/MD area. Essential duties include reviewing documents, examining blueprints, directing crews, and maintaining safety.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

• Reviews documents and plans, ensuring compliance with project specifications.
• Examines blueprints and profiles to determine dimensions and grades.
• Directs and trains crew in construction activities.
• Selects materials and structural units to ensure conformance with project requirements.
• Plans and assigns tasks to workers.
• Inspects work performed by subcontractors.
• Assigns workers to tasks such as operating machinery, cutting material, and erecting forms.
• Maintains contact lists and conducts daily huddles with the crew.
• Evaluates safety issues and enforces safety regulations.
• Monitors production schedules and maintains detailed job diaries.
• Trains employees and appraises their performance.
• Resolves work problems and motivates the work crew.
• Ensures punch list items are minimized and work activities are completed.

Qualifications

• Five years of related experience and/or training in structures for bridge and roadway work.
• Ability to read and interpret safety rules, operating instructions, and procedure manuals.
• Ability to write routine reports and communicate effectively.
• Mathematical skills for adding, subtracting, multiplying, and dividing.
• Reasoning ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions.
• Physical demands including standing, walking, reaching, stooping, kneeling, crouching, and lifting up to 50 pounds.

Compensation

The expected base hourly range for this position is $40 - $50/hr. This range is based on the job level and includes factors such as education, experience, licensure, certifications, geographic location, and internal equity. The range has been created in good faith and compensation decisions are dependent on the circumstances of each case. This salary range does not include any potential incentive pay or benefits, which will be provided separately when appropriate.
