Foreman (Midwest Region)

About the role

Lead the crew and operate equipment necessary to install various utilities and associated units to complete projects. Supervise and assist with all aspects of projects, including safety, team management, equipment operation, field paperwork, training, and occasional labor duties.

This position requires 100% travel and the ability to work outdoors in all weather conditions. Physical demands include walking, sitting, standing, bending, twisting, stooping, pushing, pulling, carrying, lifting, and coordinating eyes, hands, feet, and limbs for skilled movement.

Responsibilities

• Meet or exceed all safety, quality, and productivity requirements for assigned projects.
• Lead, direct, and mentor crews to ensure on-time completion while meeting financial and non-financial objectives.
• Manage staffing, including recruiting, retention, and career advancement.
• Handle employee relations, recognition, discipline, and performance evaluations.
• Recommend subcontractors for approval and initiate training for personnel.
• Schedule daily tasks and take corrective action to meet deadlines.
• Monitor project performance for productivity, safety, and quality; resolve issues as needed.
• Review and approve employee timecards and complete production reports.
• Perform daily preventative maintenance on construction equipment and report issues to the Fleet Manager.
• Report equipment hours, miles, and other details weekly to the Fleet Manager.
• Adhere to company, manufacturer, industry, OSHA, and other safety regulations.
• Establish positive working relationships with crew, customers, and subcontractors.
• Conduct daily crew toolbox meetings to identify safety, quality, and productivity improvements.
• Perform routine labor, operate equipment, and haul equipment to and around project sites.
• Represent PUSH, Inc. professionally at all times.
• Identify and implement continuous improvement processes.
• Perform other duties as assigned.

Requirements

• Two years of supervisory experience in a utility construction setting.
• Demonstrated field experience with digging operations in city and rural areas around utilities.
• Experience operating equipment such as backhoe/loader, excavator, cable plow, and compact track loader, including various attachments.
• Valid Driver’s License; Class A CDL preferred.
• Ability to pass pre-employment screenings.
• Strong leadership skills to motivate, mentor, and lead teams.
• Ability to work well with others and participate on a crew.
• Willingness to embrace new technologies.
• Positive attitude and strong work ethic.
• Computer literacy with experience using Microsoft and Google G Suite.
• Ability to read, comprehend, and prepare project-related work reports.
• Ability to handle stressful situations and workloads.
• Excellent communication, organizational, planning, and multitasking skills.
